The purpose of The Billy Redmayne Memorial Fund is to keep Billy’s memory alive and remember the great things he achieved in his short life.

From an early age, he always wanted to be the winner, he represented the Isle of Man at football aged 11 years, then he started schoolboy motocross and again was selected for the Isle of Man youth team. He joined the British army in 2008 aged 16 years old, he attended Army Foundation College for 1 year at the end of which he passed out from there with the rank of junior sergeant.

Then still not 18 he did the Parachute Regiment training course, known as ‘P’ Company, once again passed out with flying colours and was posted to 1 Para, Special Forces Support Group. 2010 saw his 1st deployment to Afghanistan, a gruelling 6-month tour of night operations supporting the Special Forces Units.

Once home he decided to try his hand at road racing with a 2005 CBR600 and he was hooked. After 2 seasons on this machine he bought a 2010 Honda CBR600RR which was prepared by him and Dave (his Dad) to race a full season with the Derby Pheonix Club in which he finished 8th in the championship. Then early in 2014 he was deployed to Afghanistan again; the Honda was then prepared for the Manx Grand Prix as he was to come home on R & R mid tour and compete in the Newcomers A Race and the Junior Race.

As usual he was focused and put his upmost into practice it paid off! With him winning the Newcomer’s Race with fastest lap and coming 2nd in the Junior Race with the fastest lap again, he then flew back to Afghanistan and finished his tour.

In 2015, he returned to the MGP, this time being sponsored by Martin Bullock. He won the Junior race and broke down during the Senior race, much to his frustration! But he did secure a place in the “Tommy Club” with an average lap speed above 120mph.

Billy was 25 when he lost his life in a racing incident in April 2016 at Oliver’s Mount in Scarborough.

He helped a lot of people over the years, encouraging them and offering advice, whether it be in racing or the army. He helped out at the IOM Youth Motor Project and was an ACU trained instructor and helped out with the Newcomers weekends early in 2016. Our aim is to support as many people as we can through the Billy Redmayne Memorial Fund.
